Brian Kokoruwe, author and founder of Deafinitequality recently met Jonathan Gullis, the MP for Stoke-on-Trent North. Brian and Jonathan are working together to give deaf and hard of hearing people better access to retail, hospitality and leisure facilities. See below the post from Jonathan’s Facebook page.

It was a pleasure to meet local legend Brian Kokoruwe this week to learn about the challenges COVID-19 has presented with the deaf or hard of hearing community.

As someone who is deaf in one ear, I know that the wearing of face masks has made it even harder to hear and engage with people in shops.

That is why it is so important in retail, hospitality and leisure face visors are used to enable lip reading, is one way which can help.

Brian will send me a full list of what can be improved to help make sure deaf and hard of hearing people are able to have better access and this will be sent into government.

Brian is looking forward to working with Jonathan to improve access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
